Immutable Games, a prominent game development studio specializing in web3 games, and Bazooka Tango, the gaming start-up founded by former Super Evil Megacorp co-founders known for creating the popular  MOBA game Vainglory, have joined forces for the revival of the turn-based tactics game Shardbound. Players worldwide can now pre-register for Shardbound.

Shardbound combines board-based strategy with the complexity of collectible card games. It is renowned for its intricate strategy, captivating universes, and vivid characters. The soon to be released game will introduce player-centric web3 gaming elements, while community-driven rewards and incentives will encourage participation and redefine the concept of digital ownership for players. 

Additionally, Shardbound will be among the first games to utilize the newly unveiled Immutable zkEVM, an EVM-compatible zk-rollup that is powered by Polygon technology and backed by the full support of the Immutable platform. This technology promises cost-efficiency, scalability, top-notch security, and compatibility with Ethereum smart contracts for game development.

Comprehensive web3 strategy and implementation support will be driven by Immutable, like easy onboarding through Immutable Passport which enables players to seamlessly integrate web3 assets into gameplay with familiar features like card upgrades and trophy roads. 

Shardbound aims to set a new standard for player-centric gaming by leveraging web3 to augment cherished game mechanics that provide all player types with valid progression paths and give players more agency over what in-game items they want to own. For example, due to the complex interactions that create a wide spectrum of strategic variety in the game, players will have the ability to build a deck that is uniquely theirs and suits their personal gameplay style.

Shardbound is the inaugural title announced by Immutable Games under their new initiative dedicated to end-to-end web3 gaming services. The revitalized game is led by a team with many years of combined experience at Riot, Activision, Blizzard, and other notable gaming companies.
