Books. Movies. Art. Games. The power of generational storytelling is timeless, regardless of the  medium.

No one knows this better than leading interactive animation studio, Baobab Studios.

With decades of success crafting generational narratives, Baobab is taking its talents to the blockchain, with the release of its first Web3 project, Momoguro: Legends of Uno.

Set in the fantastical world of Uno Plane, Momoguro: Legends of Uno is a story-focused digital collectible role-playing game (RPG). The story of Momoguro starts with a Holoself NFT, which will give players exclusive access to the game and all its expansions. From there, players must build a powerful team of unique magical creatures called Momos to save Uno Plane from destructive forces. Momos can either fuse with each other to become stronger or with a Holoself to form powerful Momobeasts. Inspired by classic 2D adventure games and Japanese RPGs, players progress through Momoguro’s narrative gameplay where they complete quests and collect Momos along the way.

But for Baobab Studios to continue to dominate the Web3 animation industry, it needs the necessary infrastructure, speed and security to scale. With Immutable, our powerful ZK-rollup technology, Baobab will provide users with a secure, gas-free, and carbon-neutral trading experience at speeds of over 9,000 transactions per second. Apart from the frictionless minting and user onboarding experience, Immutable will drive more exposure to Momoguro assets by featuring them across all Immutable-integrated marketplaces.

“Baobab has world-class storytelling from master storytellers who have a proven track record of delivering award-winning universes that scale across platforms, like Immutable. Immutable is the perfect partner for building and scaling mainstream-ready Web3 games like Momoguro: Legends of Uno,” says Maureen Fan, CEO and Co-Founder of Baobab Studios. "Our story worlds are built with long-term vision and loved by millions of fans globally. In parallel to building on Immutable, we're also building Momoguro Roblox, a TV show, and collectibles”. - Maureen Fan, CEO of Baobab Studios.

Since its inception in 2015, Baobab Studios has produced nine Emmy-winning animated short films, featuring renowned talents like Oprah Winfrey, John Legend, Ali Wong, and more. With millions of views, Baobab's projects have expanded into multiple films and series for Disney and HBO Max, books with Penguin Random House and Macmillan, and games on Oculus and Roblox.

And with such an impressive track record, it’s no surprise they’ve been able to seamlessly break into the Web3 media market.

Within a month of its launch, the game generated over $20 million in sales, with its first NFT release selling out in under eight hours. Building off this momentum, the Momoguro universe will soon include episodic content for the game, additional digital collectibles, the Momoguro: Momo Quest Roblox game, and a brand extension across TV and entertainment.

Much of Baobab’s early Web3 success can be attributed to its brilliant team, led by Maureen Fan (CEO), Eric Darnell (CCO), and Larry Cutler (CTO), whose collective work experience includes prestigious entertainment companies like Disney, DreamWorks, Pixar, and Zynga. It’s this credibility that’s also led to large investments from industry giants like Disney, Alibaba, and Samsung, raising more than $31 million to date.
